So what exactly is Osteopathy?

All systems of the body are related therefore a change in one area can easily affect functioning of another system.
For example neck and head pain may be caused by an old ankle injury that makes you stand awkwardly, whilst pelvic imbalance from giving birth can put pressure on your sciatic nerves, even years later.
The list goes! Osteopathy is well placed to understand the body’s many complexities and find the root of pain.

Our treatments incorporate several techniques including joint mobilisation and manipulations, soft tissue massage, medical acupuncture, sports taping, rehabilitation and postural exercises, combined with self-care advice.
By easing muscle tension and increasing blood supply and nerve function, we aim, with minimal medication, to dramatically reduce your pain and help you to feel human again.
Osteopathy is based on a simple understanding – that structure governs function. Your wellbeing depends on your muscles, bones, ligaments and joints functioning in harmony.

Like many osteopaths, we believe that the symptoms you present with are just the starting point. So before undertaking any physical examination, we take into account your medical history, lifestyle and personal circumstances, acknowledging that, while your condition may be similar to others, you are completely unique.

Rest assured, whoever treats you at Stafford Osteopathy will be fully trained, qualified and registered. We have all studied a degree similar to a medical degree for a minimum of 4 years, but with greater emphasis on anatomy and musculoskeletal medicine.
In fact, by the time we qualified, we’d had more than 1,000 clinical hours. Our in-depth knowledge of anatomy and fine sense of touch ensures we are well placed to diagnose the cause of your pain.
